Louis XVI Style Marquetry Inlaid Cabinet c.1930

Very smart French Louis XVI style side cabinet c.1930. Highly figured marble top with a moulded edge. Over a two door cupboard fitted inside with three adjustable shelves (internal depth 13"). Superb decorative detail to the front,featuring fine quality marquetry inlaid panels of a cloth canopy and swags, musical instruments and foliage. Set into symmetrically arranged walnut veneered ground with satinwood crossbanded borders with strung edges and little chequerboard inlays. Brass mounts to the corners, also modelled as cloth swags and brass escutcheons. The veneers and crossbanding are continued on the sides. Shaped apron and front legs with further brass mounts. Oak lined interior. With a repaired crack running front to back across the marble, well hidden in the figuring. Otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
