Long Shropshire Dresser Base c.1780

Unusually large George III oak Shropshire open dresser base c.1780. Measuring 87½" long and 36" high it is quite a bit larger than most of the dressers we see. Three plank top with an applied moulding to the underside. Over three large drawers and two smaller drawers, with cockbeaded edges, inlaid diamond shaped escutcheons and turned wooden knobs (19th.c. replacements). Arranged around a graceful broad arched apron, also with a cockbeading to the edge. Oak panels to the sides which repeat the proportions of the drawer fronts. Raised on long tapering square legs front and rear. Oak drawer linings and back board. Repairs to the rear corners of the top, otherwise excellent condition with lovely honey coloured timber. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
