Large Parquetry Inlaid Chest c.1780

Impressive late 18th.c. parquetry decorated chest, Northern European c.1780. Of tapering form with an arched lid. Pine carcass with superb parquetry work decoration in thick hand cut veneers of honey coloured walnut and cherry with inlaid ebony and boxwood stringing and a floral pattern marquetry panel on the front. With massive and original iron carry handles at the sides. Original working lock and key. Raised on low block feet. Excellent condition and particularly good colour, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
