Pair of Gothic Oak Armchairs c.1880

Splendid pair of Gothic revival oak armchairs c.1880. Padded backrests and arms both topped with fabulous glass pommels with brass caps and long brass stems. Solid oak frames and sprung seats. Upholstered in woolwork tapestry covers with large brass studs to the edges. Lovely Gothic carved detail to the arm supports, X frame legs joined with a matching stretcher and carved with patonce crosses at the sides, claw feet front and rear. Very good condition, solid and sturdy with serviceable upholstery, the frames have been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
