First World War Trench Art Chimes c.1918
Remarkable piece of First World War trench art. A set of four chimes made from brass shell cartridges of various calibres and graduated length, each sounding different notes when struck. Arranged on a good quality oak stand with tapering supports and a crisp moulded base. Sold with the original clapper which rests upon two rifle rounds split at the tip to make a stand. Clear manufacturer's marks and date stamps to the cartridges. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
