Faux Bamboo Bed c.1890

Late 19th.c. French faux bamboo bed c.1890. In pine with applied beechwood decoration turned to imitate bamboo, reflecting the fashion for Japanese art and design. A large single bed to take a 51½" (130cm) x 75½" (192cm) mattress. Crossed pediment to the headboard, turned finials to both the head and foot, extensive bamboo style mouldings also continued on the side rails. Raised on the original castors. A few chips from the edges of the finials, otherwise excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Dismantles for delivery.
