Conwy Valley Welsh Dresser Base c.1780

Very handsome late 18th.c. oak Welsh dresser base from the Conwy valley in North Wales c.1780. Three plank top over a breakfronted base featuring a central bank of two short and three long drawers of graduated height, flanked by large cupboards on either side (internal depth 17"), with a half depth shelf in the right hand cupboard. Moulded drawer fronts with good quality brass handles, fluted quarter columns either side of the drawers, and shaped raised panels to the doors of a style typical of furniture produced in the market town of Llanrwst in the Conwy Valley. Raised and fielded oak panels to the sides. Ogee moulding around the base and raised on shaped bracket feet at the front and sides. Good early timber with lovely honey colour and good patine. Excellent condition, restored cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
