Cast Iron Stick Stand c.1880
Superb late 19th.c. French cast iron stick or umbrella stand c.1880. Neo-Classical or Renaissance style cast iron frame with original painted finish. Topped with a grotesque mask at the centre of the broken arch pediment. Iron stay to hold sticks and umbrellas with twisted rails and decorative detail. Deep moulded base with a later removable metal drip tray. Note the wonderful winged lions and claw feet at the front corners of the base. Large maker's stamp at the rear for Deville Pailliette & Cie Charleville Ardennes N.52. Repairs to the drip tray, otherwise excellent original condition.
