Cased Taxidermy Herons by Henry Ward c.1870
Fine pair of taxidermy herons by the acclaimed 19th.c. taxidermist Henry Ward (1812 - 1878) of Vere St, London c.1870. A pair of herons, one grappling with an eel, presented on simulated rocks with reeds and grasses against a pale blue background. Good quality taxidermy with well preserved plumage and glass eyes. Simple wooded case with a glazed front. Paper label inside the lower left hand front corner of the case. Very good condition, presented as found.
