Carved Display Easel c.1860

Unusual French carved cherrywood display easel c.1860. Cherrywood A frame with adjustable ledge to hold a large picture. Elaborately carved and pierced uprights topped with a spray of scrolling foliate forms pierced with a flared cross pattée. The ledge slides up and down on a metal stay, locking into the central ratchet with a brass bolt on the underside. Folding rear leg turned and twist carved, with the lower portion in brass with a turned wooden foot and secured with a brass chain. Some old wear but generally very good condition. Restored cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
