Camphorwood Campaign Chest c.1880.

Late 19th.c. camphorwood campaign chest c.1880. Ideal for use as a coffee table with storage perhaps. Particularly well figured solid camphorwood boards, a fragrant and pest resistant timber designed to protect the contents during passage, with brass bindings and corners. Flush fitting brass handle to the lid, brass escutcheon plates and sturdy iron carry handles to the sides. Some obvious old wear and a bit of bulge to timbers on the front of the chest and lid. Very good colour, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
