Campaign Chest of Drawers c.1880
Good example of the classic late 19th.c. campaign chest of drawers by the Liverpool cabinet makers Urquart & Adamson c.1880. Designed to travel with an officer on long military campaigns it is constructed in two sections which fit together to make a chest of two short and three long drawers raised on the original removable turned bun feet (quite a rare feature). Solid mahogany top, sides and drawer fronts, further strengthened with brass bindings and corners to protect it from the rigours of travel. Note also how the handles are designed to fold flush with the drawer fronts to prevent them from being broken in transit. Heavy iron carry handles to the sides of each section. Original maker's badges at the rear. Very good condition, particularly good colour to the front. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied for the top drawers.
