Large Brass Mounted Marble Top Commode c.1960

Large and impressive looking French Louis XV style marble top commode c.1960. Inch-thick red marble top with canted corners and moulded edges. Over a chest of three long drawers with curving front and sides in highly figured and symmetrically arranged burr elm veneers with inlaid crossbanding and stringing to the edges of the drawers. Spectacular large brass mounts featuring male heads over scrolling foliage to the front corners. Heavy brass handles and decorative escutcheons to the drawer fronts with the shaped bottom drawer featuring additional acanthus leaf mounts and a male head at the centre. Splayed feet with scrolling acanthus mounts to the front. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
