Brass Bound Chest c.1880

Very sturdy walnut campaign or sea chest c.1880. Would make an attractive coffee table for a period interior. Made from thick boards of American black walnut with an unusual panelled lid and a bumper around the top and base to protect the main body of the chest. The lid and base are further protected with attractively shaped brass corner plates inlaid so they sit flush with the surface. Note also the flush fitting campaign style brass handles at the sides. The lid handle, also in brass and of very good quality is probably a later addition. Original lock and hinges. Very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
