Bentwood Settle c.1930

Unusual little bentwood settle or hall bench, probably American or Canadian c.1930. Backrest of two broad wavy boards, the top one featuring a simple carved detail of a harebell garland, with 30 slim stick spindles joining them. Shaped pommel tops to the rear stiles and curving bentwood arms supported with double spindles. Dished seat made from a single 1½" thick walnut board. Raised on turned legs with double stretchers to all four sides. Some wear to the finish, otherwise very good condition, solid and sturdy. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
