Arts & Crafts Display Cabinet c.1900

Exceptional Arts & Crafts or Art Nouveau mahogany display cabinet c.1900. Attributed to the celebrated Scottish cabinet makers Wylie & Lockhead of Glasgow. Glazed display cabinet fitted with a single glass shelf (internal depth 14") lined in fabric to the rear and base. Flanked on each side with angled blind door cupboards below open shelves with raised galleries. With three drawers at the waist.
Arts and Crafts style leaded glass centre door with plant motifs in coloured and textured glass at the top. The organic theme is continued in the fabulous Art Nouveau decoration, inlaid in contrasting woods pewter and mother of pearl, across the side doors and to the central frieze below the slim flared cornice. Note also the original silver plated handles to the drawers. The cabinet is raised on square column supports tapering toward a flared top. Over an open plinth with a shaped and moulded edge and a low gallery at the rear. Retailer's label for Kettlewell & Son's of Leeds at the rear. Repair to the front left hand corner of the cornice. Otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
