Alabaster & Marble Bust of a Woman in Turban c.1890

Beautiful late 19th.c. bust of a woman in a turban by the Italian sculptor Guglielmo Pugi (1850-1915) c.1890. Head and shoulders length bust of a determined looking young woman with her head turned to one side and hair wrapped in a cloth turban. Head in a pale alabaster whilst her tunic is carved from a pale grey veined marble. Decorative detail to the turban and neck line. Slim shaped plinth. Signed Pugi on the rear. Excellent condition.
