18th.c. Spinning Wheel

Charming late 18th.c. spinning wheel, possibly Scottish c.1780. 19" diameter treadle powered drive wheel of unusual construction, the rim being just a band of birch or similar rather than the deep moulded sections more commonly found. Turned spindles, maidens and adjuster. Mounted on a thick ash block with lovely primitive stamped decoration. Raised on turned tripod legs. Working treadle and drive wheel though missing the drive band and please note the bobbin mount is missing also. Some old woodworm damage to the spindles. Good colour and patina.
