18th.c. French Cherrywood Commode c.1760

Very impressive 18th.c. French commode in cherry wood c.1760. Attractive vernacular take on a Louis XV commode probably originating in the Languedoc region of Southern France. A fine example of the form with three large drawers boasting their original heavily cast pierced brass handles and escutcheons. Moulded edge to the top and a simple moulded detail to the front corners. Very attractively shaped apron, continued on the sides. Shaped feet front and rear with a carved scroll detail. Panelled sides also in cherry. Oak drawer sides and an oak panelled back. Excellent condition with particularly good colour and patina. Restored, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
