Upholstered Oak Box Settle c.1880

Late 19th.c. upholstered oak box settle or hall seat c.1880. Padded backrest within a solid oak frame with a pierced acanthus leaf frieze carved in high relief across the top and carved finials at the ends. Padded seat lifts to reveal useful storage inside for boots and shoes etc. Panelled base with raised mouldings and a deep moulded plinth. Excellent condition, backrest and seat freshly upholstered in a red and gold leaf pattern flatweave fabric, also continued on the rear of the backrest. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
