Collection of Carved Black Forest Bears c.1900

Purchased as a collection, three lovely examples of Black Forest wear produced in and around the Swiss town of Brienz c.1900. Carved in Linden (or Lime) wood as Black Forest bears with glass eyes.

Bear with walking stick and basket holding the original decanter (and stopper) and six glasses for schnapps.
Dimensions: width 7″, depth 6″, total height 14½”.

Two bear cubs playing around a tree stump. Hinged top opens to reveal space inside for a tobacco jar, the small holder on the side would have been for matches.
Dimensions: width 8″, depth 7½”, height 11″

Seated bear with head hinged, opening to reveal the original glass inkwell (minus stopper), the paw shaped to make a pen stand.
Dimensions: width 6″, 3½”, height, 6″.

All three in excellent original condition.
