18th.c. oak chest on stand c.1760. Chest of two short and three long drawers of different depths with an early drawer configuration featuring the shallowest being at the bottom (rather than the top as became the norm). Raised on a separate stand with a shaped apron to the front and sides and slim cabriole legs with square pad feet. Thumb moulded edges to the drawer fronts with original brass handles and escutcheon plates (some replacement grips) and elm drawer linings. With an applied reeded moulding around the drawers. Oak panelled sides with moulded rails and oak back boards. Some earlier repairs and restorations and, as is typical with antique elm, old worm holes in the drawers. Otherwise excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
