Long Malayer Persian Rug c.1920

Long Persian rug from the city of Malayer in Iran c.1920. Measuring 56" wide by over 12 feet long. Hand woven with three diamond lozenges arranged against a dense floral/geometric ground (typical of Malayer rugs) within multiple borders. Quite heavily worn but in good condition and with a good even colour.
Sold together with the rug is paperwork from a carpet dealers in Essen Germany invoicing for the cleaning of the rug and estimating the age at 70 years (in 1993) and the value at 7000 DM, approx £2800.
