Small Potboard Welsh Dresser c.1820
Delightful little early 19th.c. Welsh potboard cottage dresser and rack, South Walian c.1820. Unusually small size, just 55½" wide at the cornice. Low plate rack in pine with three shelves, each with a groove to hold plates and an applied moulding creating a raised lip to the front edge. With 32 handmade iron hooks to hold cups and kitchen utensils etc. Standing on low pointed oak shoes on the oak dresser top with an applied bead to hold another of small plates below the rack. Oak base with three drawers, moulded edges to the drawer fronts and turned wooden knobs, the smaller middle drawer having a working lock. Shallow arches to the apron raised on a turned middle leg and square stiles all in oak, note the chamfered inner corners to the rear stiles. Original single piece potboard display shelf in pine with a moulded front edge. Pine sides. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
