18th.c French Oak Dresser Base c.1720
Fabulous early 18th.c. French oak dresser base sideboard c.1720. Inch thick top made of just two boards (note the 16″ wide main plank) with a deep moulded edge to the front and sides. Over a single small drawer and two full height cupboards either side of a fixed centre panel. Particularly good decorative front with raised and moulded detail to the panels alternating with slim moulded pilasters between. Original shaped and pireced iron escutcheon plate to the right hand door and large turned knobs. Though there are no locks to the doors the left door can be held closed with a sliding wooden bolt. Single piece solid oak sides (also 16″ wide) with simple moulded detail to the edges (and scratch carved detail of concentric circles to the left hand side). Raised on turned bun feet. Solid oak shelves, backboards and floor boards. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
