French Empire Pedestal Cabinet c.1830

Superb early 19th.c. French Empire style marble top mahogany side cabinet c.1830. Original 13¼" grey marble top with a very slight raised lip around the edge. Over a mahogany veneered cabinet of tapering form featuring a small drawer and a left hand opening cupboard (internal depth 10"). Classically inspired carving to the drawer and door fronts, note the unusual roundel at the centre of the door featuring a Roman lamp within a border formed by a snake bighting its own tail. Large brass knobs and a stamp to the underside for the Paris maker Charles Munier of 164 Rue Montmartre. Some wear and repairs, generally very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
