Large Primitive Figure of Christ on the Cross c.1850

Large wooden figure of Corpus Christi or Christ on the cross. Quite possibly a wayside cross or from a private chapel. Wooden cross standing 91" tall to which is attached a 19th century figure of Christ carved in an interesting primitive style. The frail body with a tied cloth at the waist. Metal bolts through the hands and feet and metal thorns to the crown. Overpainted in white, heavily crazed and blistered with age. Presented as found.
