Ebonised Pier Cabinet with Painted Decoration c.1890.

Unusual late 19th.c. ebonised side cabinet with original handpainted decoration. Serpentine shaped side cabinet with a single drawer over a cupboard fitted with a shelf (max internal depth 13"). Black lacquered finish with superb original hand painted decoration of flowers to the top, door front and sides also featuring flakes of mother of pearl inlaid to some of the flower heads. Further painted decoration in gold surrounding the floral panels and to the drawer front to resemble brass inlay. Extensive applied brass mouldings across the piece. Glass top with a shaped and bevelled edge (held in place with the moulding). Raised on turned bun feet. Some minor wear to the paintwork and finish. Otherwise good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
