Terracotta Nude Figure by Auguste Peiffer c.1880

Attractive late 19th.c. terracotta figure after 'Les Hirondelles' (The Swallows) by the French sculptor Auguste Joseph Peiffer (1832 - 1886) c.1880. Classical style semi-nude figure of a young woman in a seated pose looking down at a pair of swallows on the ground. Modelled in terracotta with a bronze coloured finish. Signed A.J. Peiffer in the clay. Some wear to the finish and a few small chips from around the base. Generally very good condition.
