Large oil painting on canvas by the Belgian artist Felix Eyskens (1882-1968) c.1960. Atmospheric winter scene of a roadside shrine with a tall statue of Christ on the cross. A weak winter sun low in the sky and two figures, a mother (or grandmother) and daughter perhaps, shrouded against the cold walking away from us on a path through the snow. Very well painted in a confident impressionist style on an unusually tall narrow canvas. With a large signature in the lower right hand corner. Excellent condition, presented unframed on a simple wooden stretcher.
