Biedermeier Mahogany Bookcase c.1830
19th.c. Biedermeier mahogany bookcase c.1830. Glazed top and bottom, the shallower top fitted with three shelves (internal depth 10½"), over a deeper base with one shelf inside (depth 17") plus a single long drawer in the waist. Crisp moulded cornice, well figured crossbanded veneers to the door fronts with turned roundels and a shaped trim where the doors meet. Unusually the back of the top section is also mahogany veneered on the inside as four panels with crossbanded borders and applied mouldings, the shelves aligned to match. Shaped drawer front with symmetrically arranged flame mahogany veneers repeated on the plinth. Raised on short bracket feet. Solid mahogany sides top and bottom, oak drawer linings. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied for both sections plus the drawer.
