Pair Arts & Crafts Oak Jardiniere

IMG_0759

Remarkable pair of shapely late 19th.c. planters or jardiniere c.1890. Of singular design showing the influence of the  Gothic and Arts & Crafts movements of the day. 45″ x 9″ trough with moulded oak frames and beautiful bottle green tiles by the Staffordshire company H&R Johnson. Gracefully shaped apron around each side with pierced Arts & Crafts spade motifs to the front and rear. Raised on long slim legs which flare outwards as they reach the floor for extra stability. Excellent condition, restored and polished in our workshops. All the tiles on the front and rear faces of both panters are original (one with a small crack across the corner), whilst well matched modern reproductions (also by Johnson) have been used on the sides.
Dimensions: width 50″, depth 14, height 38″.
