Splendid mid 19th.c. mahogany and marble top console table c.1860. Original white marble top with serpentine front and sides and a moulded edge. Over a shaped and flame mahogany veneered apron with one long drawer in the front. On superbly carved front supports with scrolling detail. Raised on a shaped plinth also in flame mahogany and turned bun feet. Crisp carved detail to the drawer front, unusual wavy mouldings to sides and rear legs which also have neat little carved acanthus leaf brackets at the tops. Unusual oversized bead moulding around the plinth. Superior quality with solid oak groundwork and drawer linings. Stamped on the rear for the German makers Knussmann im Mainz together with the serial number 11735. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
