Large Arts & Crafts Wardrobe by Arthur Simpson of Kendal.

IMG_1738

Exceptional oak wardrobe by the celebrated Arts & Crafts cabinet makers Arthur Simpson of Kendal c.1900. A large wardrobe with two doors opening to reveal ample hanging space inside, with a single shelf to one side and retaining the original brass rails and hooks. Unusual shaped detail at the top of the sides and a beautiful example of Simpson carving to the frieze of stylised plant forms on the left hand door, over more traditional panelling. Original full length bevelled dressing mirror to the right hand door, over two useful large drawers in the base. Retaining the particularly good original hand made brass handles by Rathbone of Liverpool (each stamped on the rear). Some shadowing to the mirror which could be easily replaced if preferred. Otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Splits into three pieces plus cornice for ease of delivery.
Dimensions: width 72″, depth 22″, height 87″.
