Primitive Armchair.


Extraordinary large early 19th.c. primitive armchair c.1820. Unusual high back in ash and oak with shaped finials and six straight spindles. Broad arms of particularly good grain and patina over a fabulous large slab seat made from a single block of elm three inches thick at the rear edge. Raised on splayed legs simply shaped with a draw knife rather than turned. Great rustic character with obvious wear and repairs. Otherwise good condition, solid sturdy and perfectly usable.

Carved Oak Chest of Drawers.


Unusual late 19th.c. carved oak chest of drawers c.1890. Of singular design, with a lift up top with storage space below, over four drawers. Exceptional decorative front carved with scrolling acanthus leaves and flowers either side of the keyhole cartouch. Side pilasters carved with fruit in high relief and broad carved base moulding. Oak panelled sides and rear. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.

Narrow Marble Top Chest of Drawers.


Very smart early 20th.c. marble top chest of drawers c.1930. Useful narrow dimensions, just 27″ wide. Well figured rose marble top with moulded edge over six drawers. Symmetrically arranged mahogany veneers to the drawer fronts and sides with crossbanded edges and inlaid stringing. Ormolu mounts handles and escutcheon plates. Canted corners, shaped apron and feet with additional mounts. Excellent condition, cleaned and polished inour workshops.

Greer’s OVH Scotch Whiskey Enamel Tray.


Rare antique enamel tray advertising Greer’s Old Vatted Highland Whisky c.1910. 12″ square tray with a raised edge.  With the brand logo and named for William Greer & Co Ltd Glasgow in raised blue enamel against white ground, plus OVH Ten Years Old in red. Partial mark for makers J.A Campbell of Royal Avenue Belfast on the rear. Obvious wear and damage, mostly to the edges and rear.

Oak Shaving Stand.


Tall mid 19th.c. oak gentleman’s shaving stand c.1840. Oval mirror, angle adjustable on a turned column with acanthus leaf carving over a 17″ diameter circular table with moulded edge and a single small drawer. Carved and twist turned column raised on an unusual tripod base with turned finial and superb hoof feet. A minor blemish to the mirror, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Papier Mache Armchairs.


Remarkable pair of papier mache armchairs c.1860. Beautiful shapely frames with roll-over backs and arms in Japanned or black lacquered papier mache. Fabulous decoration, featuring a romantic ruined castle and priory in inlaid mother of pearl on the backrests, surrounded by an elaborate floral pattern border of further inlay and gilt detail. Drop-in seat pads with vintage buttoned silk upholstery. Decoration continues across the apron and down the cabriole front legs. Raised on the original white pot castors.  Very good condition, with serviceable upholstery. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Carolean Style Daybed.


Unusual Carolean style walnut and bergere daybed or chaise longue c.1930. Cane backrest and seat within a elaborately carved and turned walnut frame. Raised on eight cabriole legs with scrolling feet, joined with carved and pierced frieze and turned stretchers. Of identical design on both sides meaning it can be used in the centre of a room, or with the backrest to the left or right hand side. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

French Oak Armoire

Fabulous late 18th.c. French oak wardrobe or armoire c.1790. Two door cupboard fitted inside with a single shelf and hanging rail. Wide carved cornice over an exceptional decorative front. Carved frieze above the door at the centre of which sit a delightful pair of doves, symbolic of love and fidelity, surrounded by a laurel wreath suggesting this was originally a marriage gift. Shaped, raised and fielded panel doors with carved detail and raised mouldings. Topped with an acanthus leaf spray in high relief and featuring a broad middle rail also carved with birds and flowers. Original long brass escutcheon plates, hinges, lock and key. Shaped feet and an unusual apron carved to resemble draped cloth. Oak panelled sides and back. Of pegged construction, could be disassembled for delivery.

Bentwood Hat & Coat Stand by Thonet.


Good example of the classic bentwood hat and coat stand by Thonet, the celebrated pioneers of modern furniture manufacture, c.1910. Revolving crown of eight large double hooks for hats and coats, with a turned finial at the top. On a shaped column and a wide four leg base with a hoop stretcher for sticks and umbrellas. Stamp on the underside. Excellent condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.

Arts & Crafts Dining Chairs.

Remarkable set of six Arts & Crafts oak dining chairs. Four high back dining chairs plus a fine pair of matching armchairs or carvers. Maker unknown but very much in the manner of Liberty & Co. Unusual design to the backrests, with shaped top rail and stretchers, centre splat pierced with a heart or spade motif and the long stiles topped with ball finials. Shaped arms on turned supports. Seats have been freshly upholstered in a linen cloth with a William Morris style botanical print. Raised on turned legs with H stretchers and a shaped detail to the front feet. Excellent condition, cleaned restored and waxed in our workshops.
