IMG_8688 copy

Very unusual late 19th.c. carved hall chair c.1890, probably Swiss or Italian in origin. Fabulous Renaissance revival carved limewood backrest and front frieze depicting two pairs of female angels with scrolling foliage and scallop shells. Note the little grotesque mask at floor level. With scratch carved detail to the seat. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
Dimensions: width 16”, depth 16, height 44”.

This unusual carved hall chair is very similar to one I have. I’m trying to find out more information about it.
