Pair of Elephant Garden Seats.

Delightful pair of 20th.c. ceramic garden seats c.1970. Modelled as Asian elephants with howdah on their backs to form a flat stool or table surface. Finished in a deep grey/gold metallic glaze. Earlier repair to one ear on one elephant. Otherwise excellent condition.

Carved Oak & Walnut Kneehole Desk.

Splendid mid 19th.c. kneehole desk c.1870. Good sized top with leather writing surface over two long drawers and two banks of three smaller drawers of graduated depth, arranged around a cental kneehole. Solid oak carcass and plinth with carved detail around the top and tothe front. Solid walnut drawer fronts beautifully carved with a crisp scrolling foliate pattern and retaining the original Gothic handles. The carving continues on the side panels which are also in walnut, as are the three rear panels. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.

Symphonion ‘Penny in the Slot’ Music Box with 46 Discs.

Rare late 19th.c. ‘penny in the slot’ upright Polyphone type music box by the celebrated German company Symphonion, creators of the first disc playing music machines, c.1890. The wind-up mechanism reproduces music on 12″ stamped metal discs played upright on two combs. Quality walnut case with heavy moulded cornice and plinth, raised on turned bun feet. The door panel features an illustration behind glass of children playing music and singing. Topped with a pierced gallery with turned finials. Original coin slot and winding handle to the right hand side. The combs are stamped with the Symphonion trademark and the serial number 239097. Sold together with 46 Symphonion discs in a wooden carry case. Mechanism is complete and in original unrestored condition but unfortunately no longer working. The case is missing a portion of the right hand finial and the backboard.

Oak Bench Seat.

Late 19th.c. oak hall bench or window seat c.1880. Single piece solid oak seat with a moulded edge and lovely turned bolster ends. Raised on turned legs with a carved detail to the top of each, repeated on all sides. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Art Nouveau Gilt Mirror.

Large early 20th.c. gilt wall mirror c.1930. Original 22″ x 35″ mirror plate with bevelled edge within a moulded gilt wooden frame with Art Nouveau style detail highlighted in a green/grey paint. Original gilt, some minor wear and retouching to damage on one corner. Could be hung either landscape or portrait aspect.

Unusual Giltwood & Marble Top Centre Table.

Very unusual gilded window or centre table  c.1920. 23″ diameter green marble top within a wooden edge raised on giltwood frame with a shapely apron featuring a moulded edge. Over four heavy cabriole legs ending with extraordinary carved flower and ball feet. Very attractive colour and finish, the original leaf gilding is heavily worn with the red ground or ‘bole’ exposed on the apron and feet.

Pair of Brass Table Lamps.

Superb quality pair of brass table lamps c.1950. Cast in heavy gauge brass with baluster form bodies with a flaming torch detail at the top and raised on tall weighted plinths. Excellent condition, cleaned and rewired and sold with a PAT test certificate.

Late 19th.c. Arts & Crafts Cottage Wall Mirror.

Charming little late 19th.c. Arts & Crafts style oak wall mirror c.1880. Rusticated oak frame in the shape of a cottage or house gable with shaped and chamfered detail and applied gilt metal daisy head mounts. Very good condition retaining the original glass with only minor tarnish.

Very Small Marble Top Side Cabinet.

Useful little French marble top mahogany side cabinet c.1930. Just 24″ wide, ideal as a little drinks cabinet perhaps. Rose marble top with a pierced brass gallery over a two door cupboard fitted with two adjustable shelves. Fluted uprights and panelled sides, raised on short turned legs with brass mounts to the front and rear. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Small Welsh Potboard Dresser.

Delightful little late 18th.c. oak Welsh potboard dresser c.1790. Good small size, just over five feet wide at the cornice and only 71″ tall. Particularly attractive plate rack with a crisp moulded cornice, elaborately shaped canopy and sides and very unusual long pointed shoes. On an open base with a single plank top with moulded edge over three drawers. Shaped apron, continued on the sides, raised on straight legs with chamfered inner corners, joined with the original potboard display shelf.  Note how the apron copies shapes from the canopy and sides of the rack. Very good condition with especially good colour. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
