Art Nouveau Washstand by Shapland & Petter.

IMG_5925

Fabulous Edwardian era tile top washstand by the acclaimed English cabinet makers Shapland & Petter of Barnstable c.1905. Top and back splash in beautiful aqua marine tiles with a piped design of flowers and trees across three larger tiles (probably by Minton) to the back. Flanked with two small shelves and with a useful two door cupboard below. Exceptional marquetry inlaid panels featuring stylized plant forms with heart shaped centres in mother of pearl, just the kind of Art Nouveau influenced design for which Shapland & Petter became famous. The Art Nouveau theme is continued in the design of the brass handles which are original throughout. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
Dimensions: width 48″, depth (at centre) 24″, height 51″.
Note this is part of a suite of bedroom furniture all with the same inlaid details comprising this washstand, a large wardrobe and a dressing table.
