Walnut Settee With Original Embroidery Covers Dated 1834.

Rare early 19th.c. French Louis Philippe framed open arm settee c.1830 with its original woolwork upholstery. Depicting a stag hunt with horses and hounds on the seat, whilst the backrest features a delightful scene of celebration with dancing, a fiddle player stood on an upended barrel and people sat around an outside table eating and drinking. Very unusually the covers carry a stitched signature and the date 1834. Note also the finer needlework used on the faces of the characters. Walnut frame of particularly good colour, shaped arms with unusual carved roundels at terminals and raised on sabre legs. In excellent condition.
