Very Large Golfing Portrait by John A.A. Berries c.1930.

Fabulous large early 20th.c. portrait in oil on canvas by the Liverpool portrait artist John A.A. Berries  (1887-1962) c.1930.  Measuring 38″ x 50″, the dapper looking subject is Jack Woolham, two time winner of the English Amateur Close Championship (1933 & 1935), painted almost life size in club tie, sweater and slacks, stood on the links of the Hooton Golf Club with a putter tucked under his arm. Signed by Berries, an accomplished painter of portraits whose work includes commissioned studies of Churchill, Edward VIII and George V, in the lower right hand corner. Excellent condition, presented unframed on the original stretcher. Accompanying the portrait are four framed vintage photographs of Woolham receiving the Championship trophy.
