Small Walnut Arts & Crafts Dresser c.1900.

Arts & Crafts style dresser c.1900. Maker unknown but very much in the manner of Heals or Leonard Wyburd’s designs for Liberty & Co. Unusual small size, just five feet wide and very heavy construction in solid walnut (note the thickness of the boards used in the top and uprights). Low rack with arched apron and mirror back panel over a two door cupboard base with two short drawers in the waist and one long drawer below.  Dramatic Arts & Crafts design with a long overhanging top repeated on the rack and retaining the original strap hinges and ring handles in iron. Walnut panel sides and drawer linings. Carved detail to the block feet. Note there is a small burn mark to the right hand side of the cornice, probably from an oil lamp, and some minor wear to the top and shelves. One replacement cupboard lock, otherwise original throughout. Excellent colour, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
