Pair of Vintage African Modernist Copper Panels.

Rare pair of decorative copper panels from the central African state of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) dated 1986.  19″ x 33″ solid copper panels each with a repoussé or raised design of highly stylized musicians and dancing figures, an interesting mix of ethnographic and modernist art. Signed in the bottom right hand corner of each by the artist Kalumba Tshung Manu, one is also dated 1986. The artist’s French language business card is also fixed to the rear of one of the panels with an address in Lubumbashi, the DMC’s second city and centre of the country’s mining industry. Very good original condition, presented in simple slim wooden frames.
