Pair Meiji Period Japanese Decorative Panels c.1890

Beautiful pair of Meiji period Japanese decorative panels c.1890. Each with a single large chrysanthemum, the symbol of the Japanese Imperial family, carved in high relief from bone or ivory and presented against a black lacquered ground. Superb detail, note the moth at the centre of one of the flower heads. Presented in their original lacquered frames. Good condition with some minor old damage.
