Pair of Japanese Bronze Urns c.1880.

Splendid pair of small Meiji period Japanese bronze urns c.1880. Decorated with scenes of flowers and birds to both sides (note the use of the Chrysanthemum, symbol of the Japanese Imperial family), elephant’s head handles and raised on tall pierced plinths. Superb rich colour and patina. With a tiny hole to the shoulder of one vase and a loose handle to the other (with some associated scratches to the finish). Otherwise excellent condition.
