Marble Top Gueridon Centre Table c.1840.

Mid 19th.c. French marble top centre table or gueridon c.1840. At 25″ height it is a little lower than many we see. 39½” diameter marble top featuring a shaped edge with concentric rings designed to prevent spilt drinks from running off the sides. Over a mahogany veneered apron with applied moulding. Raised on an acanthus leaf carved pedestal and shaped legs, also with acanthus leaf detail and scrolling feet. Unfortunately the top has been broken in the past but has been professionally repaired and reinforced at the rear. The cracks are quite well hidden amongst the grain of the marble and the damage doesn’t detract from the elegance of the table. Otherwise excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
