Long Window Seat with Original Covers c.1860.

Fabulous mid 19th mahogany window seat c.1860. Measuring 7’6″ long, designed to stand against a wall below a window or in a grand entrance hall perhaps. Open ends with padded armrests raised on beautifully carved mahogany supports with crisp acanthus leaf detail front and rear. Sprung seat retaining the original embroidered woolwork covers with a floral pattern against a black ground. With brass studs, long tassel braid and thick woven chord. The floral pattern continues as a double border across the front and sides whilst the rear is left unfinished. Raised on a deep moulded mahogany plinth. Minor wear to the covers, otherwise it survives in excellent original condition.
