Late 19th.c. Reformed Gothic Or Arts & Crafts Style Walnut Dresser c.1870.

Exceptional late 19th.c. Reformed Gothic or Arts & Crafts style walnut dresser c.1870. Tall open display rack with three shelves on crisply turned and carved columns. Featuring a top frieze carved with unusual stylized plant forms and cushioned red velvet back panels. Over a four door cupboard base with deeper overhanging top section. Ebonized, raised and fielded door panels carved with geometric designs to the upper doors. Decorative brass strap hinges and handles.

A remarkable piece of exhibition quality furniture. Unfortunately unsigned but in manner of the Reformed or Modern Gothic designers such as Bruce James Talbert and Charles Bevan who, like the designers of the contemporary Arts & Crafts movement, borrowed and adapted traditional forms to create new designs. Excellent condition, original through, simply cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
