Late 19th.c. Oak Box Settle with 17th.c. Timbers.

Late 19th.c. oak box settle or hall bench c.1880 incorporating 17th.c. timbers. High panelled backrest probably re-cycled from an earlier piece with four lovely 17th.c. carved panels at the top. Shaped arms on bobbin turned supports over a single plank seat which lifts to reveal useful storage space below for shoes, boots etc. Panelled front and sides to the base, again probably re-cycled; note how the right hand panel has been cut to size. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
