Late 19th.c. Gilded Plaque of Racehorse Faugh a Ballagh.

Late 19th.c. gilded plaque of the celebrated thoroughbred racehorse Faugh a Ballagh who in 1844 became the first Irish bred horse to win the St Ledger. Shown in profile in full tack and saddle with a bright gilt finish against a black ground. Clearly named on the base. Of considerable weight, held with a threaded a bolt inside a 2″ deep frame with moulded rosewood front and gilded slip behind glass. Excellent condition.
