Unusual Gothic Open Dresser c.1820.

Superb early 19th.c. Montgomeryshire Welsh dresser with unusual Gothic revival elements c.1820. Inverted breakfront rack with three central shelves below a beautiful Gothic arch frieze with carved detail. Flanked with trefoil niches over tall side cabinets fitted with shelves inside and with small spice drawers in the moulded plinth below. Open dresser base with three long drawers over an unusually shaped apron with pointed droppers and pierced tracery brackets where it meets the front stiles.
Crisp moulded cornice, mahogany crossbanded door fronts with ebony strung edges, mahogany fronts to the spice drawers which are also strung in ebony. Drawer fronts are also mahogany crossbanded to match, with ebony cock beading and small brass knobs. Solid oak sides to the rack and base. Very good unrestored condition. Original locks, cupboard keys supplied.
